Garlic breath after a meal? An apple immediately after is the solution!

Garlic breath after a meal? An apple immediately after is the solution!

Someone once said, **"Nature has no waste; it's a system that just works unless disrupted."** Here's one more reason to believe that.

We've all tried drinking water immediately after a sumptuous garlic-filled meal. Some of us have reached for juice, while others have brushed our teeth in an attempt to get rid of the bad breath. At least from my experience, none of those worked. I don't know about you!

The lingering garlic breath would sometimes stay with me the whole day, and here's why.

Garlic breath lingers because different volatile sulfur compounds are released at different stages. Some odors appear almost immediately from tiny food particles left in the mouth. Others develop as garlic passes through the stomach. Even after digestion, sulfur compounds can enter the bloodstream and eventually be released through the lungs when you exhale. That's why garlic breath can linger for up to 24 hours.

But nature comes to the rescue.

Researchers at **The Ohio State University** found that foods such as **apples, mint leaves, and even lettuce** can help reduce halitosis caused by garlic's sulfur compounds when eaten at the same time as, or shortly after, a garlic-rich meal.

Sometimes, the simplest solutions are already growing around us.
